I’m not a racing fan by any means. Of course, we’ve all been introduced to the necessary evil of random drug testing in professional sports now. But I had no idea that such testing existed in NASCAR.
I think I was just a little uneducated about how it would apply in racing. I started thinking – - how could the use of performance-enhancing drugs improve your race-car driving??
But then I realized that I was looking at this from the wrong angle. This drug testing is more about the more important element of human safety. After all, who wants to be speeding around the track at over 200 mph with some other dopeheads. Now I get it.
I’m not well versed on how MLB does it’s “random” testing, but the one indicated at the Coca-Cola 600 seems quite random indeed – with little to no preparation time. And that seems like it could be very effective.
