I just love it when superstar athletes make guest appearances on television shows.
They tend to show about as much personality as a lamp post. They give off this aura of not really wanting to be there. Based on that, I’d say that Albert Pujols fit the bill nicely.
Pujols and his wife Deidre appeared on Paula’s Best Dishes – a show hosted by Food Network staple Paula Deen. On this episode, Deidre shared her recipe for one of her husband’s favorite dishes – aptly named the “Home Run Chicken.”
The show began with Albert grating cheese in a very lackadaisical fashion. But then Paula asked how he met his wife – and, of course, Deidre had to basically admit that she chased him down week after week at a bar in Kansas City.
The Pujols then gave a half-hearted demonstration of a meringue. In one of stiffest moments in television history, Pujols waddled in a circle – perhaps showing us that it was possible to dance without lifting your feet off the floor.
It says a lot about your personality when Paula Deen can’t loosen you up. Somehow, I don’t think Albert will have to worry about appearing on a television screen again without a baseball bat in his hands.
