Tim Tebow Went Too Far…

Tim Tebow gave Gator fans a lot to celebrate during his run at Florida.

Tim Tebow has a nice football resume – one of the best of anyone coming into the National Football League.

Tebow was a three time All-SEC 1st Team performer with the Florida Gators from 2007-2009.  During the same years, he was an All-American (2-time 1st Team, 1-time 2nd Team).  Tebow was the AP Player of the Year and the Heisman Trophy winner in 2007, and during his collegiate career won several quarterbacking awards.

Tebow was most notably regarded for the successful leadership that he displayed – as noted by the Gators’ 35-6 record in the seasons that he was the starter.

So, upon his his entry into the NFL, one could assume that one day he would be a good leader.

And they say that in order to be a good leader, one must be an equally good follower.

But, of course, leave it to Tebow to take it one step too far…

Denver Broncos' rookie Tim Tebow's new hairstyle

Certainly, everyone is saying the obvious – that this haircut is a statement from Tebow to illustrate his willingness to do anything for his new team.

But leave it to T Lamont to see this from another perspective.

Everyone who pays attention to football knows all about this guy.  We know his story.  We know the hours of dedication.  We know his religious convictions.  We know that by all accounts, he is a stand-up person in a football league that chooses to focus on the individuals who aren’t stand-up people.

To me, the haircut is more than just a statement of those ideals.  It is also a self-gratifying ploy by the former Heisman winner to keep himself in the spotlight.  It’s simply an attention grabber, the likes of which NFL veterans such as Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens routinely get blasted for.

If Tebow really wanted to be all about ’team,’ he would have gotten a routine head shave – nothing over the top – and then went about his business day-in and day-out in camp…without us having to know about it at all.

But, naturally, the rook decided to have someone put a giant-sized donut over his head and cut out the hair patch that was exposed.

Moves like this one will keep him as a follower in the NFL, because no one is going to want to follow him…

…especially when he’s looking like a character out of a D&D video game.
