Thursday Night NFL Draft is Better

Tebow will have to wait until Friday night (at the earliest) before hearing his name called.

This year’s NFL Draft is moving to prime time - and I couldn’t be any happier.

The 2010 edition will conduct its first round on Thursday April 22 starting at 7:30pm ET.  The second and third rounds will be held on Friday April 23 beginning at 6:30pm ET.  Finally, rounds 4-7 will be held on Saturday April 24 at 10am ET.

This may be the first time - which I can recall – that I might actually watch the draft.  Here are my top three reasons why I am on board with the new time slot:

- People are less inclined to have extracurricular activities on weeknights.  I know that certainly applies to me.  Being the head of a family of six, there are set times that I consider running errands – and Saturday always tops the list.  Basically, the odds that I can watch one or two rounds will increase dramatically with the new schedule.

- Give fans more options.  Don’t make us have to dedicate half a day (on Saturday) to see who going to end up going where.  My brain is already a victim of A.S.O. (Athletic Statistical Overload), so finding out little by little is just fine with me.

- Only diehard fans watch the draft past the 2nd or 3rd round.  If you’re a fan of a specific team, then you might want to know who your team’s 4th, 5th and 6th picks will be, but the rest of us don’t.  Just let me know where the big names went and which teams made dumb moves in the early rounds, and I’m straight.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
