McNabb Injury Opens The Door For Vick Return to QB
The Philadelphia Eagles lit up the scoreboard against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Starting quarterback Donovan McNabb wasn’t spectacular – but he guided his team to 38 points in two and a half quarters.
But the greatest successes aren’t complete without a little bit of discomfort. That discomfort came as McNabb rushed for a touchdown and he was sandwiched between Panther defenders trying to stop him. McNabb suffered cracked ribs on the play and was pulled from the game.

Will Vick see any action at quarterback in Week 3?
”Don is very resilient,” said offensive juggernaut Brian Westbrook. ”He heals fast.”
Well, it seems as if he’s doing some sort of healing every year nowadays. The days and weeks to come will reveal the depth of his injury. But if McNabb is out for an extended period of time, one has to wonder – how will currently suspended quarterback Michael Vick fit into the picture?
Vick was watching the action from the luxury boxes today. Kevin Kolb, the second string quarterback, finished out the game in less than impressive fashion (as expected with the team leading by so many points).
Would Andy Reid play his rotation to the letter, keeping Kolb in at the expense of the dynamic element that Vick can bring to the quarterback position?
Only time will tell. But with McNabb’s history of ailments one thing is certain – the Eagles backup QBs will get their fair share of opportunities to step in and show their worth.
