Syracuse Eliminated By Butler

Jimmy Boeheim's Orangemen are going home a little bit earlier than expected.
Another night of tournament action, another major upset.
The latest victim was the #1-seeded Syracuse Orangemen, who were upended by the #5-seeded Butler Bulldogs.
The impressive part of the Bulldogs’ victory was the fact that they led early, and in the early-to-mid second half Syracuse had actually taken the lead. Butler composed itself, and went on an 11-0 spurt that drove them past the Orangemen.
The Bulldogs only committed 7 turnovers, while Boeheim’s team coughed up 18 turnovers. This led to extra opptunities for Butler, who also got to the free throw line 21 times in the contest.
Not to discredit Butler’s chances at earning a Final Four berth, but the upset looks as if it will enable a sharp Kansas State squad to make it to Indy out of the West region. Butler will move forward to play the winner of the Kansas State-Xavier tilt – in which the Wildcats are out to a great start.
