Is Tiger Abusing His Father’s Memory?

With his new Nike commercial, Eldrick has decided that it's time to get back into the advertising game.
With Tiger Woods all set to storm back onto the professional golfing scene at this weekend’s Masters, we’ll be bombarded with all of the necessary (an unnecessary) updates on his performance, attitude, appearance, attire, etc., etc…
But upon Woods’ entry back into the game which he has dominated, his mega-sponsor, Nike, has released a new ad. The ad is approximately 30 seconds in length, filmed in black and white (allowing you to clearly see the Nike symbols on his attire), and it captures Tiger gazing speechlessly into the camera.
“So, who’s doing the talking?” you might ask. It’s none other than Earl Woods, Tiger’s deceased father.
Now, we really haven’t seen much of Tiger’s dad when it comes to his endorsements…and Woods was definitely close to his father – as could be seen at the time of his father’s passing. But the eyebrows of many observers (including my own) will be raised with this commercial because of its timing. In addition to that, there’s this feeling that he’s using the close relationship that he and his father had to rehabilitate his image. Woods is looking to get back into the hearts of the American public through this emotional advertisement, but it’s really done in poor taste – and as mentioned earlier, the timing is quite simply to coincidental with his return to the game.
How long will Woods be crucified for his narcissistic actions? The answer to that question is now firmly placed in Tiger’s court.
And if he continues to abuse those who are closest to him for his own gain – as it appears he is doing in this ad – his public trial may last much longer than it should.
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
