Carl Crawford was a busy man on the basepaths on Sunday.
Great job by Carl Crawford today – stealing 6 bases in the Tampa Bay Devil Rays’ 5-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox.
Base stealing is definitely one of the more overlooked components of the baseball game – - but players with this skill can greatly enhance a team’s scoring potential.
Crawford has good speed…so this wasn’t too much of a stunner to me. The more amazing thing, IMO, is that Rickey Henderson ( 1,406 SB) or Tim Raines (808 SB) hadn’t done this before (although it has been accomplished by three other players).
Carl must focus on making sure that he continues to get on base consistently. After a bit of a down year in 2008, Carl has upped his average to .317 so far this season (after his 4-for-4 performance today). Tampa Bay will be ecstatic for Crawford to return to his 2005-2007 productivity.
