Broncos’ Marshall Worth The Drama

With a heart-stopping 20-17 overtime victory over the New England Patriots, the Denver Broncos have gotten off to an unpredictable 5-0 start.

The Rocky Mountain squad had many things working against them coming into the season. Let’s look at some of them:

- In 2008, their atrocious defense gave up 375 yards and 28 points per game.

- They were starting the season with a rookie head coach (Josh McDaniels).

- Their Pro-Bowl quarterback, Jay Cutler, asked for a trade after hearing that McDaniel tried to acquire Matt Cassel in the off-season.

- Wide receiver Brandon Marshall was making a scene by holding out for contractual reasons.

So…what became of all of this drama??

Well, all of these situations turned out better than any Broncos fan could have possibly imagined.

So far in 2009, they are second in the league in total yards yielded per game (253) and they’re only giving up 8.6 points per game (1st in the NFL). Josh McDaniels’ emotion has lit a fire within the Broncos players that seems to burn brighter with each new daunting challenge. And the Jay Cutler trade provided Denver with a stable, efficient quarterback and first-round picks this year and next year (and a third-round pick in this year’s draft).

But on the field, Brandon Marshall has once again shown us that he is something special.

Marshall has heated up over the past three weeks, putting up 4 touchdowns – including two against the New England Patriots on Sunday. His play is speaking volumes and is showing everyone that he is the elite receiver that he says he is.

I think VH1 needs to give Brandon Marshall a call. Because he is easily proving that he is worth all the drama.
