Arturo Gatti always fought with a lot of heart.
In one of the most bizarre months (as far as celebrity deaths go), there’s yet another entry to add to the list.
News broke over the weekend that former junior welterweight champ Arturo Gatti was slain Saturday. While investigation is still going on, the evidence is suggesting that there was a strangling early in the morning and – eh hem – some bloody purse straps were involved.
His wife was in the apartment that night, along with their son. Gatti was apparently heavily under the influence of alcohol – seemingly so much that investigators aren’t ruling out any possibility…including his wife being potential suspect.
I remember Gatti best from his epic battles with Micky Ward – (for us video game players) they’re even protrayed on the introduction to Fight Night 3. But Gatti, 37, and his 23-year-old wife, have a track record that includes some impressive bouts of their own.
